A giant ball, a walled stadium and cars with rockets bolted to the back: Turball.io is football where the players drive. You control one car in a 3D arena, either alone or with teammates, and the goal is to knock the ball into the opponent's net by ramming it, flipping into it or meeting it in mid-air. It runs in the browser with live matchmaking, and the main menu showed several thousand people online when we opened it.
The Play screen splits into Casual, Competitive, Tournaments, Training and Private Match. Casual alone lists six options: Duel for one against one, Doubles for two against two, Standard for three per side, and three variants. Rumble adds random power-ups, Hoops replaces the goals with raised baskets, and Snow Day swaps the ball for a hockey puck on a slippery floor. Training is the place to learn without an opponent watching, and a first-kickoff tutorial nudges new players toward a relaxed casual match first.
Driving is on W, A, S and D. The left mouse button fires the boost, the right button jumps, and pressing jump again in the air gives a dodge or flip. Shift is a powerslide for tight turns, Q and E roll the car in the air, and Space switches the camera between following the ball and looking ahead of the car. Boost is limited, so part of the skill is grabbing the refills around the field while still being where the ball will land.
Outside matches there is a whole progression layer: daily missions such as playing ten minutes or finishing a match, a seasonal pass with a hundred tiers and two reward tracks, an item shop and a garage for paints, hats and ball designs, plus clubs, saved clips, a career page and leaderboards. A Play With Friends option lets you form a party before queueing. None of this is needed to enjoy a quick casual match.

How to play Turball.io
- Press Play on the main menu and choose Casual for an unranked match, or Training to practise alone.
- Pick a mode such as Duel, Doubles or Standard and wait for the match to fill.
- Drive at the ball and hit it toward the opposing goal, using boost to get there first.
- Jump and flip to strike the ball in the air or to change its direction sharply.
- Collect boost pads around the arena and fall back to defend when the other team attacks.
- Score more goals than the other team before the clock runs out.
Tips
- Use the ball camera most of the time; knowing where the ball is matters more than seeing straight ahead.
- Do not chase every touch in team modes. One player rotating back to the goal stops most easy concessions.
- Save some boost for defence instead of emptying it on the first sprint at kickoff.
