A boy in a red cap lies on his bed daydreaming about a giant mechanical dinosaur with laser eyes that would send his little sister running. Since he has no robot dinosaur, he does the next best thing and fills a bubbling cauldron in the middle of his untidy bedroom. The room is the whole playing field: a blue frog on the bed, a smelly sock, a rock, a snail on the shelf, a wedge of cheese, a spring, a football, a skateboard and more are all highlighted as ingredients. The game asks for four of them. Once the pot is full, the mixture turns into a monster, and a different set of ingredients gives a different result. There is no score and no clock; the reward is simply seeing the next odd creature. This is a short Spil Games piece from the early 2010s, aimed squarely at younger players who like a bit of harmless spookiness.

How to play Mix a Monster
- Press Start Game and click Awesome to move past the opening daydream.
- Look around the bedroom; objects you can use are outlined in yellow.
- Click four of them, one at a time, to drop them into the cauldron.
- Watch the brew turn into a monster and see how the little sister reacts.
- Start again with a different set of four to discover another creature.
Tips
- Swap only one ingredient between tries to learn which object changes the result.
- Mix the gross items with the ordinary ones; the combinations are part of the joke.
- It is a good pick for small children because nothing can go wrong and the rounds are short.
Questions about Mix a Monster
How many ingredients does each monster need?
Four. The prompt at the top of the room reminds you each round.
Is Mix a Monster scary?
Only mildly. The monsters are cartoon creatures meant to be funny rather than frightening.
Is there a way to lose?
No. Every mix produces a monster, so the game is about experimenting rather than winning.
Do I need to read to play?
Hardly at all. The only text is a short prompt and a couple of buttons, and the objects themselves are easy to recognise.
