Every idol needs someone standing between him and his most excited fans, and in this Spil Games strategy title that someone is you. The screen is a garden behind a white villa with a pool, and a sandy path zigzags from the gate to the house. Groupies march along it in waves, and each one who reaches the end breaks one of your four hearts. Your answer is a toolbox of silly but effective weapons, from a hair dryer to a red stiletto heel, which you buy with money and drop beside the path. Every groupie you send packing pays a little cash, so a clean wave funds the next line of defence. Before a round you choose which of three popstars to guard and how seriously you take the job; the first setting, Friend, gives you 120 in starting money against ten waves. A bar along the top of the screen shows what is coming next: fans on foot, fans on wheels, fans on Cloud 9 and, eventually, the biggest fan of them all.

How to play Popstar Bodyguard
- Press Start, pick one of the three popstars and choose a difficulty with the arrows on the pink card.
- Study the path before spending; a gadget placed inside a bend can cover two stretches of it at once.
- Buy a weapon from the bottom bar and click an empty patch of grass to set it down.
- Click the heart-shaped GO! button to release the wave and watch the gadgets turn fans away.
- Spend the cash you earn between waves on new gadgets or on upgrading the ones already placed.
- Survive every wave with at least one heart left, or your popstar ends up in tears.
Tips
- Check the incoming bar at the top so a new kind of groupie never arrives as a surprise.
- Use the weapon info icon on the left to learn what each gadget does before buying it.
- Selling a badly placed gadget returns part of its price, which is often better than leaving it idle.
