Cyclomaniacs Epic opens like a cartoon: a newspaper front page announces that the supervillain known as the Haddock has escaped from jail, and a TV news anchor reports him spotted at Cyclo Studios. Your job is to chase him on a bicycle. The menu is set in a sunny city skyline, and the rider line-up has changed again: a bear, a big red-eyed robot, a cowboy with a moustache, a hooded figure with a scythe and a nun. On the track the controls will be familiar to anyone who played the earlier games, with pedalling, braking, leaning and jumping, but Epic adds a coin counter at the top of the menu, a bell instead of a horn, a race timer, stunt and boost bars, and a strip map in the bottom corner that shows how the hills ahead are shaped. Turbo Nuke released it in 2013 as the third game in the series.
| Up or W | Accelerate |
|---|---|
| Down or S | Brake |
| Left and Right, or A and D | Lean back and lean forward |
| Space or X | Jump |
| B | Ring the bell |
How to play Cyclomaniacs Epic
- Click inside the game and press Play on the controls screen. Watch the short news intro or press Skip Intro.
- Press Play Game on the main menu and choose your race.
- At the start flag hold Up to pedal. Lean to keep the wheels in line with the ground and jump to clear bumps.
- Fill the stunt bar with air time and flips, then use the boost it charges on straight or downhill parts.
- Finish races to earn coins and progress through the chase after the Haddock.
Tips
- Watch the strip map in the lower left corner. A steep dip on it means you should lean back before the crest, not after.
- Short jumps on bumpy ground keep more speed than riding over every bump.
- Try to land every jump on the downhill side of a hill. It turns the fall into speed.
- The pause button in the top right lets you mute the music or restart a bad race without going back to the menu.
