The October 2011 Fashion Editor issue is titled Haunting Haute and goes for a dramatic Halloween. The editor's line suggests you haunt memories forever with an alluring costume, and the side columns are Cutest Costumes and Devilishly Daring. The dressing room is a deep red night with a crescent moon and the silhouette of a crooked castle. The model starts with a short dark bob, a straight fringe and violet eyes. The cover shows what a finished look can be: long auburn hair, painted swirls around one eye, translucent purple wings, a flowing red cape, torn black leggings, criss-cross boots and a star wand. A costume tab on the left and a make-up tab on the right set this month apart.

How to play Fashion Editor: October
- Click the Haunting Haute headline to go to the dressing room.
- The left tabs are hair, eyes, lips, tops, bottoms, costume and dress; the right ones are earrings, make-up, shoes and tights.
- Start with the costume tab to choose a theme, then build the clothes around it.
- Use the make-up tab for face paint, and the X tile to remove anything.
- Press Done to put her on the October cover.
Tips
- Cute or daring: decide which side column you are dressing for, then keep every piece on that side.
- The deep red background swallows red clothes, so purple, black and silver read better.
- Face make-up does a lot of the costume work; a simple dress with bold make-up can be enough.
- Wings and capes cover the back of the outfit, so add them last and then check the overall shape.
Questions about Fashion Editor: October
Is this the same as Cover Model Dress Up: October?
No. That is the 2010 Halloween cover with ghosts and a mummy look; this 2011 issue has wings, capes, face paint and a castle backdrop.
Is it spooky?
Only mildly: a moonlit castle and costume make-up, nothing frightening.
Can I make a look without a costume?
Yes, the regular tops, bottoms and dresses are all still there.
Does it work on a tablet?
Yes. Tabs and thumbnails respond to taps, and nothing needs a keyboard.
