Lovely Mermaid is the first of a small Spil Games series about a blonde mermaid in a pink shell top, and this one is a spot-the-difference game. Each scene sits in an ornate silver frame split down the middle, with nearly identical drawings on either side. In the opening pair, captioned Meet our star, the right-hand version has a red bow in her hair, a different curtain colour, a striped sock and a stray seashell, among other changes. Six empty pearls along the bottom fill up as you find each one. Captions under the frame tell a short romance piece by piece, so clearing a scene is also how you turn the page. Scoring is tight: a wrong click costs five points, and the magnifying-glass hint costs ten, so careful looking beats random tapping.

How to play Lovely Mermaid

- Compare the two halves of the frame and click anything that differs. It can be clicked on either side.
- Each correct find lights one of the six pearls under the pictures.
- Find all six to finish the scene and read the next line of the story.
- Use the magnifier only when truly stuck, since a hint is twice as expensive as a wrong guess.
Tips
- Scan in strips from top to bottom rather than jumping around the picture.
- Colours of large areas, such as curtains and fins, are easy to miss because the eye treats them as background.
- Small props like shells and fish near the edges hide many of the changes.
