Mindy wants nothing more than to visit her grandparents in Happyville, but Happyville is on the other side of the world. Her neighbour happens to be a large, cheerful green monster, and his idea of transport is to pop Mindy in his mouth and spit her as far as he can. That is the whole premise, and it turns into a relaxed distance game. Each throw starts with two clicks, one to fix the angle and one to fix the speed. Once she is airborne you steer with the mouse and click quickly to make her flap, which keeps her up longer until the flap meter in the top-left corner runs dry. Butterflies and power-ups float along the route, a bar along the bottom shows how close you are to Happyville, and animal friends wait in the sky for a photo if you fly beside them. It is one of the classic Spil Games titles made for younger players.
| Click | Set the launch angle, then the launch speed |
|---|---|
| Mouse movement | Steer Mindy in flight |
| Rapid clicks | Flap to stay in the air while the flap meter lasts |
| Space | Use a collected upgrade during flight |
How to play Monster and Mindy
- Press Play and read the short story about Mindy and her grandparents.
- Click once when the arrow points at a good angle, then click again when the speed gauge is high.
- Move the mouse to steer through the sky and click repeatedly to flap.
- Collect butterflies and power-ups on the way; the icons at the top right count what you have.
- Fly next to an animal friend to take its picture for the Photo Album, and push the progress bar a little further each flight.
Tips
- Save your flaps for when Mindy starts to drop; flapping while she is still rising wastes the meter.
- A launch angle a little under forty-five degrees usually carries farther than a steep one.
- Upgrades are held until you press Space, so use them late in the flight to stretch the distance.
Questions about Monster and Mindy
How do I make Mindy fly farther?
Combine a strong launch with well-timed flapping, and use upgrades with Space when she is about to come down.
What happens when the flap meter is empty?
Mindy cannot flap until it recharges, so she glides and slowly loses height.
What is the Photo Album?
It collects the pictures you take by flying close to the animal friends you meet in the sky.
Can I play with just a mouse?
Almost entirely. Only the upgrades need the Space bar.
