Bloons 2
- Genre Puzzle games
- Players 1
- Session 5 min

The sequel keeps the core idea of the 2007 game, a monkey with a handful of darts and a sky full of coloured balloons, and wraps it in a proper journey. After Play Game you land on an illustrated island split into zones: grassy fields, a lava valley, a jungle temple, a beach, a volcano and more, each locked until you work your way to it. The first zone, Popping Fields, is a grid of twelve levels with little previews, and level one draws a giant number 2 out of balloons over a meadow. You get five darts and a target of 24. The bottom bar is busier than in the original: a Max Power button, a Skip Level helper with five uses, View Solution with three, a Store and a toggle for Unlimited Darts. A friendly pop-up at the start even hands you a few Super Monkeys for the hard levels. Throws are charged by holding the mouse, and it takes most of a second to build real power, so the game feels slower and more deliberate than its predecessor.
| Mouse aim | Swing the aiming arrow around the monkey |
|---|---|
| Hold and release | Charge the dart for about a second, then let go to throw |
| R | Reset the level (the button in the bar shows the same key) |
| Skip Level | Use one of five skips to pass a level you cannot crack |
| View Solution | Spend one of three hints to see how the level is meant to be solved |
| Map | Go back to the island to pick another level or zone |
How to play Bloons 2
- Press Play Game, then click the open zone on the island map. At the start only Popping Fields is unlocked.
- Choose a level from the zone's grid. Completed levels are counted in the bar at the bottom.
- Aim with the mouse and hold the button to fill the power, then release. The dart flies in an arc and pierces every balloon it touches.
- Reach the target before the five darts are gone. If you fail, the level restarts and you try a new line.
- Clearing levels opens the next ones and, in time, new zones on the map.
Tips
- A short click barely throws. Count to one before releasing, or use Max Power when you want the longest throw.
- On the number-2 level the most balloons sit in the long diagonal and the bottom row, so throw along them rather than into the loop at the top.
- Save Skip Level for the late levels. The early ones are designed to be solved with a few patient tries.
- If you want to learn a level without pressure, switch on Unlimited Darts, find the good angle, then play it properly.
Questions about Bloons 2
How is Bloons 2 different from the first Bloons?
It adds an island map with zones, twelve-level packs, helper buttons such as Skip Level and View Solution, a store and a level editor in the main menu. The core throw is the same.
Why does the monkey throw so weakly?
Power builds while you hold the button and takes close to a second to reach full strength. Release too early and the dart drops short.
What is on the island map?
Several zones around Popping Fields, the first one, shown with locks. Clearing levels opens them; the map also has an Unlock All Levels button and a Reset All Levels button for your progress.
Does Bloons 2 work on a phone?
Aiming is press-hold-release, which a touch screen can do, but the stage is wide and the buttons are small. It plays best with a mouse.
