August 2011 is the back-to-school issue of the Fashion Editor series, and its headline, Hottest Haute, sets a high bar for a school outfit. The brief promises back-to-school fashion that is anything but boring, and the side columns are titled Pattern Play and High-Heel Party. The model has a sleek blonde bob swept over one eye and a red beaded ornament in her hair; on the cover she wears a sheer pink dress covered in little bows over purple patterned tights. The dressing room glows peach and coral, and it has a tights tab and an extras tab alongside the usual clothes, which is where most of the pattern mixing happens.

How to play Fashion Editor: August

  1. Click the Hottest Haute headline to go from the cover into the wardrobe.
  2. Left tabs: hair, eyes, lips, tops, bottoms, extras and dress. Right tabs: earrings, barrette, shoes and tights, then SFX, Done and Reset.
  3. Click any thumbnail to add it; the X tile at the end of each grid removes that category.
  4. Pair a patterned piece with plain ones, then finish with tights and heels.
  5. Press Done to see the look on the August cover.

Tips

  • One loud pattern plus one quieter one is the easy rule; three patterns at once usually fight.
  • Tights carry pattern well because they sit far from her face.
  • A barrette in a colour taken from the outfit ties her hair into the look.
  • Her hair sweeps over one eye, so a brighter lip colour keeps her face readable on the finished cover.

Questions about Fashion Editor: August

Is it about school uniforms?

No. It is about fun outfits for the new school year, not uniforms.

Does the game remember my outfit?

No. Each visit starts from the base look, so take a screenshot of a cover you like.

Are there other Fashion Editor months here?

Yes: April, May, June, October and December, each with its own model and theme.

What is the High-Heel Party column about?

It is one of the cover teasers, and the shoes tab holds the heels that answer it, so finish the outfit there.

Is there a story or a rival in this one?

No. Unlike the Cosmo Angel chapters, the Fashion Editor issues have a single model and no comic.
