The hero of Gravity Guy runs on his own and cannot jump. All you control is which way is down. Press the mouse button or Space and he drops upward onto the nearest ceiling; press again and he falls back to the floor. That sounds simple until the level turns into a maze of floating girders with gaps below and spikes of empty sky above, all scrolling toward you at a steady clip. A white armoured guard chases you from the left edge of the screen, and a score counter in the top corner climbs as you cover distance. If you flip into nothing, you sail off the screen and the run is over. The Flash version dates from 2010, and the iOS edition advertised in its banner came out the same year. Besides the solo chase there is a Multi Player button for two, three or four runners on one keyboard, each with a single key.
| Left click | Flip gravity: fall to the ceiling, click again to fall back to the floor |
|---|---|
| Space | Same as a click, flips gravity in solo play |
| One key per runner | In Multi Player each runner is assigned a letter key, shown on a keyboard picture before the race (for example X, P and M) |
How to play Gravity Guy
- Click inside the game once so it receives input, then press Play for the solo run or Multi Player for a race on one keyboard.
- A promo screen for the phone version may appear first. Press Continue Playing to skip it, then read the short help card and press Continue.
- Your runner starts on the floor and moves right automatically. Click or press Space to switch gravity whenever the floor ahead ends.
- Watch where the nearest surface is before you flip. You fall straight up or down, so there must be a platform in that line.
- Keep ahead of the guard and stay on screen. Missing every platform ends the run and shows your distance score.
Tips
- Flip a little before the edge, not on it. The fall takes time, and the level keeps scrolling while you are in the air.
- Two quick taps cancel each other. Count one flip per gap unless you really want to bounce back.
- Short blue rails hanging in mid air are easier to hit from below than from above, because you see them coming earlier.
- In a multiplayer race, the runner who falls behind the left edge is out, so the safe line is often better than the fast one.
Questions about Gravity Guy
How do you jump in Gravity Guy?
You do not. The only action is flipping gravity with a click or Space, which makes the runner fall up to the ceiling or down to the floor.
Can several people play on one computer?
Yes. Multi Player asks for 2, 3 or 4 players and gives each runner its own key on the same keyboard.
What is the iPhone banner at the top?
It is part of the original 2010 Flash file and advertises the mobile edition. It cannot be removed here and does not stop the game.
Does Gravity Guy work on a phone or tablet?
The solo mode needs only one action, so a tap on the screen can flip gravity. The multiplayer keys still need a physical keyboard.
