The burger shop from Flipline Studios runs on just three rooms, Order, Grill and Build, and nearly all the difficulty sits in the middle one. Raw patties wait in a pink stack on the left of a wide flat grill. You drag as many as you like onto the hot plate, and each one gets a small gauge with two percentages: how cooked the underside is and how cooked the top is. Click a patty to flip it. The ticket carries a little dial showing the wanted doneness, from rare through medium to well done, and the goal is to reach the coloured part of that dial evenly on both faces. Leave a patty face-down too long and one number races ahead while the other sits at zero. Cooked meat slides onto a holding stack at the right, ready for the Build room, where shelves hold top buns, tomato, lettuce, onion rings, pickles, cheese and bottom buns, next to bottles of ketchup, mustard, mayo and BBQ sauce. The ticket reads from bottom to top, so you rebuild the customer's burger layer by layer. In our session a burger for Penny scored 98% for the build but nothing for the grill, which says plenty about where the real challenge lies.

| Drag a sauce bottle | Hold it above the burger and release to squirt ketchup, mustard, mayo or BBQ |
How to play Papa's Burgeria
- Skip the Burgeria HD advert with CONTINUE, press Play!, click an empty save file, type a name and pick Marty or Rita (Papa Louie himself is a bonus character).
- When a customer reaches the counter, click Take Order and wait while the ticket is written, then drag it onto the line at the top.
- On the Grill, hang the ticket on the side hook, drag a raw patty onto the plate and flip it once the first side reaches the dial on the ticket.
- Move the finished patty to the stack on the right, open Build and start with a bottom bun in the centre of the work area.
- Add the patty, toppings and sauces in the order printed on the ticket, finish with the top bun and drag the ticket onto the tray holder to serve.
Tips
- Watch both percentages, not just the colour of the meat. A medium burger needs each side near the medium mark, not one side well done.
- Put a patty on the grill as soon as you hang a ticket. Grilling takes the longest, so start it before taking the next order.
- Drop layers in the middle of the bun. Toppings that land off-centre slide around and cost build points.
- Sauce comes out of the bottle once you let go, so release it right over the burger rather than at the edge.
Questions about Papa's Burgeria
Why does the game open with a Papa's Burgeria HD screen?
That is Flipline's own promotion for its tablet version, built into the Flash file. Press CONTINUE to reach the title screen.
How many stations does Papa's Burgeria have?
Three: Order, Grill and Build. Later Papa's games add more rooms, but this one keeps the whole job in those three.
Can I play it on a phone or tablet?
All actions are taps and drags, so a finger works, but the patty gauges and shelves are small on a phone screen. A mouse or a large tablet is more comfortable.
Does it save my restaurant?
Yes, in one of three save files kept by the browser you play in.
