This is a small, gentle character builder from Spil Games, made around the end of the 2000s for younger players. Instead of a fashion doll you get a round-faced little animal, and the whole left side of the screen is a bouquet of pink flower buttons, each one holding a different part of the picture. One button swaps the animal itself, another the eyes, another a costume hood such as a bee or a tiger, and others handle ears, wings, a prop in the paws and the scenery behind. A tiny counter under each flower tells you which option you are on and how many there are, so it is easy to see how much is left to try. Nothing is timed and nothing is scored: the goal is simply a creature you like looking at.

How to play Cute Animals Dress Up

  1. Start by clicking the animal button until you find the body you want, since every other layer sits on top of it.
  2. Cycle the eye button next; the face changes mood a lot depending on which pair you pick.
  3. Add a costume hood, ears or wings from the other flowers and watch the counter to know when an option list loops back to the start.
  4. Choose a prop and a background last so they suit the finished character.
  5. Press Ready when you are happy, then use print or save, or go back and keep adjusting.

Tips

  • The question mark is a good way to break a creative block: roll a few random critters and keep the one that makes you smile, then fine-tune it.
  • Mixing a costume from one animal with a different animal underneath gives the funniest results, like a squirrel in a bee suit.
  • A plain dark backdrop makes bright costumes stand out more than a busy scene.
