Teddy Textile is a craft game with a narrator who happens to be the finished product. A bear in round glasses and a checked bow tie stands at a chalkboard and explains that he will show you how to make a soft toy just like him. From there the game walks through the real stages of the job. First you choose which animal to make from a row of paper patterns, including a bear and a horse. Then you pick a fabric, scrolling through prints such as pink blossoms, lilac, plain brown and a beige check. Cutting, sewing, stuffing and decorating follow, and at the end you design a label for your new friend. It is a gentle, untimed classic from Spil Games and works well for younger players.

How to play Teddy Textile

  1. Press Play and click the red arrow in Teddy's speech bubble to begin.
  2. Choose the kind of stuffed animal you want from the paper shapes on the wall.
  3. Pick a fabric. The blue side arrows scroll through more prints.
  4. Hold the mouse button and trace the dotted lines to cut out the pieces, then do the same to stitch them together.
  5. Drag handfuls of cotton into the funnel to fill the toy, add eyes, a nose and other features, and design its tag.

Tips

  • Trace slowly. Staying on the dotted line gives neater edges than a fast scribble.
  • Choose the fabric with the face in mind: busy prints can hide small eyes, plain cloth shows them off.
  • The round blue button at the top corner takes you back a step if you change your mind.
