The holiday edition of the Spil Games shopping series does not take place in a nameless town. A friendly speech bubble explains the plan: Christmas is coming, you want to look the part for the festivities, so you head for the shops of Paris with a fresh allowance every day. That allowance is the tightest you will meet in these games, just $400, so a coat and boots can swallow a whole morning's money. The street itself is dressed for the season, with snow on the pavements, a full moon, an elf hauling a cart of presents and Santa's sleigh gliding over the rooftops. Along it you will find Glitz & Glam for sparkle, High heels & more for shoes, Hair & Happiness for styling, a pink boutique called Happy Bell, a Christmas Pet shop and a red-roofed Christmas Decorations store. Bags of money occasionally lie on the snow, and picking them up is the only free top-up you get.

How to play Shopaholic Christmas
- Press New Game, close the welcome message, choose a girl and type her name and age before the OK button lights up.
- Accept the $400 on the card and press Shop! to land on the Parisian street.
- Hold the arrows to browse the storefronts and click one to open its shelves.
- Look through every colour and pattern of an item, then use the cart to pay for the one you like.
- Return to the street with the shopping bags button, collect any money bag you spot and keep shopping until the budget is gone.
- Photograph your favourite ensemble with the camera to record it and see what the whole outfit cost.
Tips
- Four hundred dollars disappears fast, so buy one statement piece a day rather than a full outfit at once.
- Money you do not spend is added to tomorrow's refill, which makes saving up for a pricey coat a real option.
- If a purchase clashes with the rest of your wardrobe, sell it and put the cash towards something warmer.
