Verity opens like something harmless. You arrive in a peaceful voxel meadow, gather a few resources and get friendly help from a character with a fixed smile, the Verity of the title. For a while nothing seems wrong, and that calm is deliberate. The game is built to let you settle in before it starts pulling the ground away.

Then the glitches begin. Places you already know change shape, small visual errors appear at the edges, and the story leads you from the Meadow into darker locations such as the Mine, and further into areas called The Portal and The Maze. The world itself becomes the source of unease, which keeps you exploring even as it feels less safe to do so. There is little traditional combat; the tension comes from looking closely and noticing what has shifted.

Verity is the centre of it all. His dialogue starts out helpful and grows stranger with each chapter, with questions and remarks that feel too personal. Reading every line instead of clicking past it is part of playing properly, because conversations carry clues about what he knows. Many exchanges offer a choice of reply, and those decisions can affect later moments and lead to different endings.

The story runs across twelve chapters, and replaying sections with other answers is how you see the outcomes you missed. Controls are minimal: click to continue and choose, or tap on a phone. The horror is psychological rather than gory, which makes it a slow, attentive game best played with the sound on and no rush.

How to play Verity

  1. Explore the current area and look at everything, including things that seem slightly off.
  2. Talk to Verity whenever he appears and read his lines in full.
  3. Pick your replies carefully, since choices can change later scenes.
  4. Look for clues in both dialogue and surroundings as locations start to glitch.
  5. Work through the twelve chapters, then replay sections with different answers to reach other endings.

Tips

  • Compare how Verity speaks early on with how he speaks later; the change is part of the story.
  • Revisit familiar spots after each chapter, because they do not always stay the same.
  • Keep a mental note of the answers you gave so a replay can deliberately try the opposite.
