Riddle Transfer begins in orbit. The friends from Riddle School are flying home aboard a spiked alien craft steered by Diz, a green pilot the caption calls a stereotypical alien. Their old enemy Viz is gone, so each character gets a name card and says what comes next: Zack, now the Human Fireplace with a flame on his head, wants a cure for his fever, Smiley the Eager Scholar plans to read the encyclopedia, Phred the Helping Hand has no idea, and Phil the Stalwart Leader is cut off mid-sentence. A beam from a desert base marked Zone 5.1 drags the ship out of the sky, agents in black file out with rifles, and Phil wakes in a glass holding cell under a sign reading "Phil Eggtree, I.F.O. Landing". Released in June 2011 as the start of a new arc, it is the most polished-looking game of the set, with a map spread over several floors and an eight-slot inventory.

How to play Riddle Transfer

  1. Click the glowing Main Menu disc, then Play Game. Read the crew introductions by clicking anywhere, or press Skip.
  2. When the cutscene ends you control Phil inside a glass cell with a sink, a toilet, a thin mat, a wall vent and a door panel with a keypad.
  3. Click each fixture. Phil comments on all of them, and those comments point you toward the first useful object.
  4. Leave the cell once you have a way through, then use the floor map in the bottom right to explore the base level by level.
  5. Work through the base one obstacle at a time; the story picks up again as you reach new areas.

Tips

  • Phil is surprised that the vent in his cell is empty. Long-time players will get the joke; newcomers should take the hint and search elsewhere.
  • The keypad by the door suggests a code. Keep an eye out for numbers on posters, screens and notes as you go.
  • The poster in the cell asks whether it can throw a monkey at you. Not every gag is a clue, but checking costs only a click.
  • Progress saves to the browser, so you can stop and come back; Delete Save Data on the main menu starts over.

Questions about Riddle Transfer

Is Riddle Transfer part of Riddle School?

It continues the same characters right after the fifth Riddle School and starts a new storyline set outside the school, in a secret base.

Do I need to finish Riddle School 5 first?

It helps, because the opening refers to defeating Viz and returning from space. The puzzles themselves do not depend on earlier games.

How long is it?

It is the largest file in the series and the map covers several floors, so expect a longer session than any of the school episodes.

Can I play it on a smartphone?

Tapping works as clicking, and the game does not use the keyboard. Small labels and hover names are lost on touch, so a computer gives a better experience.
